It was a wet and windy morning down at the Little Strand as the 5th and 6th class children walked down to wave lifeboat ‘Doris Bleasdale’ off. There was a sense of sadness in the air as the children performed a guard of honour while Doris made her way down the beach for the last time. It was a poignant moment as we waved farewell to Doris who served Clogherhead and her shores magnificently throughout her 26 years here. Ms Deery led the children in a moving rendition of ‘Is Clogherhead like it used to be?’ We know the children understood the significance of the event and will always remember that morning as a piece of history in the making.
