Drogheda Fleadh Cheoil 2019 saw the town transformed into an oasis of music, song and dance. Callystown National School certainly contributed to the displays of talent during the week with an array of talented and buoyant musicians, singers and dancers. And what a week it was with record-breaking crowds of more than 600,000 people arrived in Drogheda to enjoy the festivities over eight days, making the attendance the biggest in the history of trad music’s festival.
On every street corner many familiar faces from the school could be found entertaining the delighted crowds with the added bonus of earning some extra pocket money!
On Thursday at 2pm many of our talented students took to the gig rig for a fantastic performance in association with Music Generation.
Ms Deery, Ms O’Kane and Ms Gaffney all showed off their musical talents in amazing performances on the gig rig with their respective choir’s/orchestra’s.
Tommy Sweeney and Patrick Connolly proudly graced the front cover of the official Fleadh programme.
Drogheda Fleadh Cheoil 2019 went out with a bang as a spectacular fireworks display cascaded over the D-Hotel and brought the curtain down on the extravaganza and provided a fitting finale to a wonderful week.
It really was a fantastic Fleadh and absolutely wonderful celebration of Irish music and dance and it shows how strong our Irish culture is around the world as well.
